Re: Afternoon

Caged birds is a very accurate description, yes.

[And she gives the girl an appraising look for it, because she grasped that a lot faster than Natasha had expected her to. She was interesting, not anything like she expected to find here.]

They bring in people from all over. Some may be from places you've heard about, but they don't seem to be restricted to just those. Or even just your time. I've met people here from very far in the past and very far in the future. We don't know how, or even much about why, other than they're studying us. Learning, maybe. Sometimes strange things happen in the village, sometimes strange things happen to us. Sometimes they... request our help completing tasks or even fighting outside the village. But otherwise, they leave us here to live and do what we wish. Except leave.

[It was breaking it down into it's simplest form, and maybe it was a harsh way of explaining to a child, but there was a seriousness and intensity to the little girl that is... well, eerily familiar, to be honest.

She pauses, then crouches down in front of the girl, putting herself at equal eye level, regarding her with a calm seriousness.]
My name is Natasha. Do you want me to show you around, take you to where you can get some food and warmer clothes?
